Take THAT spam bots!

Woo Hoo! I finally managed to install a mod on the battle forum that is stopping the spam bots! Even with email AND visual verification turned on with registration, they could still get in! So annoying! But no longer!

Now enjoy the board without all the annoying random spam messages.

Back up and running!

So we disapeared for a number of months, but now the site is back up and running, and apparently totally operational (if it isn't let me know!)

So why was it down? Well, there are a couple reasons. First, we moved into a new house, and had to transfer our internet. After we did get moved into the new place we discovered that I was pregnant! And things got busy.... So we didn't have the time (or money *cough*) to get a static IP setup so we could stablely host the site again. We only just recently got our internet set back up to stand up to the riggors of web hosting, so now the site is back up.

In other news, for those unaware, my husband and I work for Sony and our studio is just about to wrap up production on a game. The game is Syphon Filter Dark Mirror for PSP. You can find the official website here:
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

Enjoy!

Forum Temporarily Down

The RPG Forum is temporarily down. I'm at work now and only just noticed the problem, so I can't fix it until I get back home. I plan on making a trip during lunch, so hopefully the problem will be solved then.

Sorry for the downtime and thanks for your patience.

RPG Forum in Beta Testing Stages

The Pirate vs Ninja BBS is in the beta stages! It's an RPG bbs, meaning that you can create a character, battle monsters or other board users, level up, earn money and buy items and equipment!

But everything is still in it's early stages of development and we need testers to help get things working and balanced. It's important to realize that if you participate in the RPG Forum at this stage in it's development, your stats and level could get reset back to level 1 a few times. I've had to do it once, and will likely be doing it again at least once more. If this test is successful, I shouldn't have to do it again, but I can't garuntee anything.

It's a fun system, and I want people to enjoy it, but to do that, I need to get everything fair and balanced, and that takes some tweaking.

I really apprciate everyones help with this! Thanks and have fun!

Jack Thompson: Ignorance is rich

In recent years, Jack Thompson has provided an easy scapegoat for any violent acts committed by young individuals. Placing himself in the social spotlight against violent videogames, he claims that the games are the cause for the violence in young adults. Case after case, he defends the very people committing these horrible crimes and takes his cut. Playing on the ignorance of the general population, he exaggerates scenes and events in games to support his flawed theory. An example would be the recent claim that Sims 2 for PC should be rated AO (Adults Only) since there is a cheat code to remove the blur censor on nude Sims. He described "Sims 2, the latest version of the Sims video game franchise ... contains, according to video game news sites, full frontal nudity, including nipples, penises, labia, and pubic hair." Anyone who has played this game knows that simply is not true. When you remove the blur, there are no gentiles to be found. No hair, no nipples, nothing. But I would like to bring your attention to one part of the quote. "According to video game news sites." It would seem that Jack Thompson doesn't actually confirm his rants for himself. He also described Killer 7 to contain "full blown sex scenes" from a review he read on IGN.com, a video game news site. The Killer 7 scene contains two fully dressed characters with one character teasing another character from his wheel chair. Hardly "full blown" if you ask me. This seems to show a trend that Jack Thompson is just reading any review he can find, exaggerates the content, and alerts the media. Now, when a reporter finds news, they always have to confirm their sources, but Jack is skipping this step to gain more publicity.

Nintendo DS V.S. Sony PSP

As a Pirate, I love the homebrew capabilities of the PSP. But I could see how a Ninja would prefer battery life, control, and something easier to carry. Pirate or Ninja, fight it out here
